Fits my Victory CCT and does the job well.

I work in the aftermarket automotive parts industry, and after evaluating the differences in oil filters offered from Walmart (usually Fram) I’ve settled on the Wix brand due to its superior build and filtration qualities. It may be unfair to compare Fram to Wix since Fram is clearly a low-price brand, the difference in Wix’s superiority is more than worth the difference in price (about $3.) I’ve seen Wix’s advantage in its other filtration products too, so I only use Wix for cabin & air filters also in the Honda Odyssey (every time I get an exact fit).

Amazon Prime saves me 45 minutes of not having to drive to the auto parts store. This is extra time I can spend with my family which makes me a ‘Happy Dad’!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: This filter’s seal failed me in an extreme cold situation, so I’ve switched to the Mobil 1 M1-104 Extended Performance Oil Filter.

One day when we had -15F temperatures in the winter of 2013-14, I noticed that the oil started leaking badly from the filter upon start-up. Thankfully I noticed it and shut the motor down right away. I looked at the filter, and the oil was leaking badly around the base (on the Honda Odyssey, it is mounted upside down). I checked to see if the filter was secure (it was) and I started it again only to have the same leaking problem. I use full synthetic Mobil 1, so this wasn’t an issue of the oil being too viscous on cold startup.

A local Wix representative was very courteous and tried to answer my questions and even gave me a replacement, but the same thing happened on another cold day. My conclusion is that this wasn’t a one-time filter failure. I was chatting with a counterman at a local auto parts store about it, and he mentioned that he only uses Mobil 1 especially in our climate. He was formerly a quick oil change technician, so he has a lot of experience with filters.

Comparing the Wix and Mobil 1 filters, I noticed the metal backing of the mounting gasket isn’t very strong on the Wix. My unscientific conclusion without tearing the filers apart is that the Mobil has a much stronger metal backing on the gasket and won’t be compromised in cold temperatures. The Mobil 1 also uses an O-ring. Sorry… I wish I would have taken pictures of the 2 filters.

We had more days of -15F weather after I made the switch (some were -20F), and the new Mobil 1 held up great.

If you live in the north and are using Wix, watch out for extreme cold use. Otherwise I recommend using Mobil 1—I almost learned the hard way. I can’t change the star rating, but I would drop it down significantly based on my near-catastrophic failure due to the Wix seal leak. Hope this helps you!

Amazon says this fits my 2012 Scion 4cyl. Wix website says otherwise.
The threads are different. It seemed to tighten up fine, no leaks at first. As soon as my daughter got on the highway, the filter blew off. What a mess. About a mile from our home.
    Double check amazon’s numbers.

Just for your info. The filter appears to be working okay and not leaking. But it had a significant dent in the top of the filter. I could not see any cracks in the metal, and the bottom was not damaged. The box was creased, so I assume it happened after being packaged.

Purchased for $6 making it a much better alternative to Fram. Metal end caps, silicone ADBV and coil spring bypass valve. Purchased in May 2016, filter has a March 2015 date code. Made in Mexico

Several sites around the Internet claim to rate various brands of oil filters. Wix filters always score very high in the tests. Some brands score a little higher from time-to-time, but the ones that do often cost 2-3 times as much as the Wix filters.

When I was in college, I had a part-time job doing fleet maintenance on a variety of vehicles, from small pick-up’s to full-size Kenworth, Peterbilt, and International 18 wheelers. We drove from site-to-site, and checked the vehicles every Sunday. We also did oil changes, tune-ups, replaced light bulbs, and other small repairs, so that the trucks would be ready to roll Monday mornings. We only used Wix filters, many of which are made in America, though some production has apparently moved to Mexico.

BTW, the Wix 57356 has IDENTICAL specifications to this 51356. Identical in every published specification. They are interchangable in every way.

These are great. When I was young and impressionable, I thought Fram was the best. But then I saw a picture of various oil filters cut in half exposing their innards. Let’s not talk about the Fram anymore. This Wix filter is among the very best filters you can buy. Does that surprise you? We are slaves to marketing. I really wanted the other guys to be better. Orange…pretty!! UGH!! (Caveman voice.)

Wix makes a lot of filters for other brands too, so you may be using one and not even know it. Are they the best? Maybe. Maybe not. But they are measurably better than many out there, and the price is right.

Anyway, keep a few of these at the ready. Can’t go wrong.

Double check this filter before use, I trusted Amazon and end it up with a mess on my driveway. As soon I started the car the oil filter pop out the car and all the engine oil went out to the floor costing me more that filter, customer services does not help with your lost on $40.00 Mobil 1 oil plus new oil filter $15.00 and the chance of blowing your engine

  9. Happy Dad

I’m no expert on the issue of oil filters, so I won’t pretend to be. I researched a bit on bobistheoilguy and a few other motoring enthusiast forums, and a few names always keep circling around when the motor heads start talking about the “best” oil filters. I haven’t done a detailed analysis on my oil samples pre-Wix and post-Wix, but other people have already done that for you. Research the web and you’ll see that Wix is always a top performer.

My experience with Wix filters has been great. They’re easy to install/uninstall, they are well-built, and they have done the job well in both of my vehicles (Tacoma and Accord). I take the Tacoma out to the desert and forest often to do some wheeling. The dust has never caused any issues. In fact, I made the switch to Wix about 4 years ago, and haven’t had a single problem yet (knock on wood).

DOES NOT FIT TOYOTA or LEXUS or SCION – check the fitment via wixFilters.com before ordering!

I like Wix filters, but the Amazon product selection failure completely let them down on this one.

First order arrived quite dented. Amazon lists these as a “AmazonConfirmedFit” for my Toyota, but the threads are actually a different size and these do NOT FIT TOYOTAs no matter what Amazon says about them. Spilling a gallon of oil on the road when the filter blew off was not great for the environment!
