The filter comes with 4 copper crush washers. 2 large, and 2 small.
This item made in China.
The previous filter installed in my car was a Mann WK725 (Made in South Africa).
First time doing a fuel filter myself in this car.
You need a 17mm, 19mm, and a 20 or 21mm open mouth wrench.
Also you need a T40 Torx (not 100% sure on the size) to remove the bracket holding the filter.
The bracket bolt was so rusted, I had to brake a small piece of the bracket
to remove the filter. (secured back with a zip tie right now)
I just finished installing and is leaking a little, so I’m running to the store to get new crush washers.
I plan to change this filter after about 10k miles.
** Note, many videos/blog sites will tell you the arrows should be facing the front of the car.
In my case, the filter is installed with the arrows pointing to the back of the car.

Wix makes great filters and was an easy install. I put this on our 89 VW Cabriolet along with replacing the gas tank and fuel pump – all from Amazon!

Fits like the old one. I like how it has hex heads molded into it, on both sides, so you can put a wrench on it, and properly torque the banjo bolt into place while providing a counter torque, using 2 wrenches.
It comes with new crush washers, which is nice. Note there are 2 different sizes of these washers used in this application. Its possible to put the larger ones on the smaller banjo bolt, but then the small ones won’t fit the other side, and you’ll have to start over (ask me how I know). So fit the washers onto both banjo bolts before you start reattaching the lines. Also make sure not to mix up the banjo bolts in vs out. It was smart they built the car this way, so you can’t put the filter in backwards. Still, this WIX filter does have a flow arrow on it, which is nice. But note that, at least on my car, the flow through the filter is opposite of how you’d expect. Fuel flows from tank in rear towards engine in front. But the complexities of German engineering being what they are (complex for the sake of complexity sometimes it seems), the actual flow through the filter is front towards rear. Yeah, some interesting fuel line routing.
The way the filter is mounted in my car is a rubber strap, with a bolt, and a captive nut, held in place by the plastic housing. Since this is all under the car, the bolt and nut are rusted tight, so when you try to remove the bolt, it just twists the captive nut out of its place, instead of loosening it. That gets the old filter off, but how to secure the new filter? You could use zip ties if you have to. In my case, I was able to take the frozen bolt and nut to the bench, and separate them (using lots of PB Blaster). Then I cleaned up the threads, used plenty of antiseize to abate future corrosion, and was able to get captive nut back into place and secure enough to use original rubber strap and bolt/nut. The plastic didn’t get chewed up too badly. But before you take the old filter off, have a plan B for securing the new filter, in case you can’t make the original rubber strap work in your case.

Fit perfectly. Actually had better spacing on the 22mm nut side of the filter. The bosch one had a thinner nut so a normal wrench was hard to fit between the banjo and the filter. I sid notice the crush washers were mis shaped, but in the end they still worked

Good replacement needed for ’87 VW cabriolet. I change the filter every year and it does make a difference for sure. Make sure it comes with 4 crush washers for installation. If not make sure you pick up the 2 sizes needed.
