I hop the magnet tags no do any harm to my phone, but the product it self is good.

Magnet came off the ball joint as the whole mounting fell apart under the knob in less than 3 months, I wouldn’t buy it again, too weak for a standard 6.7 inch Galaxy phone with a case!

This works great! I haven’t had any problems with it so far, and I don’t think I will. As the products is described, it fits into the CD slot, and screws (tightens) into place, and has a secure hold. The magnetic feature actually holds quite well, I mean it’s not meant for off-road 20 foot jumps, but even with bumps and jolts during a normal drive through town, it holds the phone in place. Obviously you have the choice to put the magnet inside the case or outside the case. The magnetic hold probably wont take a very heavy phone and case combined weight, I’m not sure what the limit is.
If you decide to place the magnet on the outside of your phone/case, keep in mind the adhesive bond is very strong, so it will be a permanent placement until it eventually wears off I suppose. Both supplied magnets, rectangular and circular shaped, work really well. Both are extremely thin so there’s not discomfort when placed in a pocket (None that I noticed). Assuming cars have at least one or two air vents above or close to the CD player, your phone will be cooled when running the AC. The mount holder that swivels can be pretty much angled for an easy and accessible use of the phone. After reading some questions before my purchase I wasn’t sure about buying it, but it wasn’t a bad price. Some plastic parts might be fragile, it’s not meant to be forced into place or slammed onto very hard surfaces, so handle with care. When you put it into the CD Slot, it won’t go in all the way, don’t force it in.
I can’t say much about cases, but mess around with the magnet some and see how you should and wear to place the magnet. If you’re worried about playing a CD at the same time with this in, I’m guessing it may work with this in place. I play music via cassette adapter, so this makes it easier to do that. To wrap this review up, it’s a great product. I would recommend it, and if you own a 2000 Dodge Dakota, this will get in the way of a few things (clock, nobs) but it works perfect.

Pretty poor product. Broke within week stress fractured around the screw. Plastic possibly weakened due to australian heat
Have previously used the window mount and currently using vent mount which are better solutions.

In my Jag XF. Screen bounced up and down until it fell off. Repositioned it three further times and angled the screen back to recuce bouncing. It fell out within 5 mintes again, again and again. Returned it for refund. I was lucky not break my phone.

Stands put, does not move a bit, looks good, great place at cd player door. I can remove if ever I want to hear to CDs.
Though I would love to use a bit more wide angle in moving the magnetic base; like I wanted to make the mobile face completely to me > 45+ degrees from parallel to dashboard.
The magnet strength is very good; have just started to use it.

I have bought all sorts of phone docks/mounts for my cars, so I have a wide gamut of experience in what I like and don’t like. This is 1 of 2 different magnetic car mounts I’ve purchased. I’ve swayed away from these type of mounts in the past due to worry of GPS interference or Qi charging and NFC blocking. It really depends on your needs and uses, but GPS works fine, and I plan to use this with a Nexus 6p which has no Qi, and moves the NFC to the top of the phone.
If you don’t have or use Qi or NFC, and have a mostly flat back, then this dock works great! It’s strong enough to hold some of the heaviest/biggest phones, and the usage of the CD slot make sit very convenient for both mounting and placement (center of dash, easy to reach, no suction cup failures or sticky residue tape).
I also purchased a a very similar vent mount magnet dock, and while the part that grips the vents works fine, the magnets didn’t feel as strong, nor did it have the same rubber finish to keep the phone from rotating/slipping accidentally.
My 1 star ding is on the plastic rotating “screw knob” to expand the clamp into place. One of the wings on mine already broke, and this could very well be my own fault, but I would expect it to hold up better. I imagine if you are leaving this in your car, you won’t be unmounting it from your CD slot often and won’t have this issue, but I still have to mention it.
Overall i’d recommend this for it’s convenience. As many car mounts have the same size ball and socket mechanism, I was able to swap this with other docks and use it as a vent mount still and haven’t experiences any issues with it holding only my phone even with the metal insert on the inside of my case.

TL;DR: Very satisfied with this item. It does what it advertises while the cost was about half of the more well-known comparable brands.
Some Details/Addressing concerns you may have:
One concern I had before purchase was that I have a CD changer. This topic has not been addressed in other reviews, to my knowledge. Typically when I insert a CD, my unit would grab my CD, internalize it, then you would hear the gears shifting to place the CD in an empty slot. I was afraid the TechMatte would activate this shifting once the support was placed in the CD slot, support would jam the gears, CD changer would break. However, at least with my CD changer (and I would think all do this), if the changer is full of CD’s, the changer won’t budge if you try to insert something in the slot. I did just that and there were zero problems using the TechMatte in the CD changer. So the TechMatte does work with a CD changer if you fill your changer with CDs beforehand. I am NOT willing to experiment what happens if I do not fill my changer with CD’s, heh heh.
Another concern may be, “Is the magnet strong enough to hold my phone?” My answer is YES. At least in my situation. I actually used the square plate, placing between phone and silicone case. (You get two plates, a square one and a circular one. I think the circular would work as well but haven’t tried). However, my phone has only a 4.5in screen and weighs 81g (phone+case+plate). I don’t know if a ‘phablet’ would stay in place on the TechMatte. Also, my case is silicone and I haven’t tried other casings to see if the magnetic field is dampened too much in those cases. Also I’ve driven across the multitude of pothole-ridden roads on my way to work without any noticeable movement on my phone. So, YES, the magnet is strong enough.
A last concern I’ll address is: “Will the magnet interfere with the operation of my phone?” In my situation, I have not seen any interference with any phone processes. I can still use it as a GPS, get full reception bars, stream Spotify, take calls. I have not been thorough enough to do the test in a 3-bar area of PULLING OVER at that location, taking the phone off the magnet and checking to see if signal improves in absence of magnet.
To wrap it up:
PROS:
-Holds my phone even in rough road circumstances
-Won’t break my CD changer
-Magnet doesn’t interfere with operation of phone from what I could tell
-Sticks out enough so I don’t have to reach over to far (during a traffic stop, of course).
CONS
-Only one. The platform tightening screw is fairly big. My CD slot is above the display of the unit. So the screw partially blocks my view of the radio station display if I use the radio. (Yeah, I’m in my 40’s and listen to morning radio like other dinosaurs. Wanna make somethin’ of it?…Now get off my lawn!… [I kid, of course]). “Couldn’t I replace the screw with something smaller?” you ask? No, the screw is designed to be loosened but it won’t come off entirely. Good so you can’t lose it, bad that you can’t exchange it. And, no, if I flip the TechMatte over so the screw is on above the display, the angle of the arm makes the presentation of the phone to the driver a really awkward angle, even with adjusting the position of magnetic interface.
