I have an 07′ 2500 with 196,000+ miles on it. Needless to say I had some slop in the steering. It now feels like a new truck even though i still need to replace the rest off the steering components. Only took about an hour to install. The quality of the included parts were excellent. Wish I would have done this a long time ago.

This steering brace was part of an overdue front end rebuild on my 05 Dodge Ram 3500 at 110,000 mile. Truck was wandering pretty bad and had a pretty big dead spot in the steering, which is common for generation 3 Dodge pickups. Started with new ball joints, axle U-joints and the 08.5 steering upgrade. That got rid of 90+% of the slop and was a dramatic improvement over the worn out OEM setup. Used Mcquay Norriis heavy duty ball joints and Neapco heavy duty U-joints along with the OEM 8.5 steering upgrade kit – installed by a local front end shop. Installed the Synergy brace today and immediately took it out for a test drive. Seems to have tightened up the steering a little bit more. Truck goes in a straighter line now and the (already small) dead spot in the steering improved a bit. It steers almost like new now. Before installing the brace, I was thinking about getting a Redhead steering box as the final step (because I’m pretty particular) but not sure I need one now. This brace is built solid and comes with all the hardware you need. It ties the two front frame horns together and eliminates frame / steering gear flex during a turn – a known problem with these trucks. The supplied bearing with grease zerk does a good job of stabilizing the sector shaft that comes out of the bottom of the steering gear box. Relatively easy to install although the brace and sway bar are a bit difficult to hold up in place to install the bolts. Works better with a floor jack an (or) a helper to hold everything in place. Instructions are decent but it helps to watch a Youtube video or two if you haven’t done one before. Took me about 1 1/2 hours with a floor jack, common hand tools and a teenage son to help.

Bolt holes not drilled post casting.
Decided to do this at home because it looked easy enough. I get it all in place and go to bolt the bearing on and the supplied bolts won’t fit because the holes weren’t drilled. This showed awful quality control.
I had to take it back apart and reassemble in stock form then drive to the shop 45 minutes away(didn’t have a vise or drill bits at the house) and start over AFTER fixing your screwup.
The fuel and my time cost more than this product.

Edit: also, the bearing wasn’t seated all the way so I had to use my press.
As for the function of the product itself, HUGE improvement but my 1 star review remains, for now.

Synergy steering box stabilizer is legit! This thing is tough. Ties the front frame together and supports where the pitman arm attaches to the steering box. Makes the steering much more responsive and tighter
