    There was a problem with the first motor shipped. Seller sent shipping label for return, and shipped new starter once first motor was shown as shipped. This happens once in a while, this seller responded quickly and I am happy with them and their product. The new starter fits and works fine.     Ok so I purchased two starters at the same time and don’t know which one is which. The pics on here showed they looked like two different finishes but when I got them they look identical in every way. So I’m sure they are both made by the same company with different sellers. I installed one on a boat that had been sitting for 5-6 years so I had to do some cranking on it to get it to fire. Have started it a few times now since then and everything is working perfect.

    Two months in and I haven’t had any issues with the starter itself. It’s worked fine and seems to have enough power to turn the flywheel on my Mercruiser 3.0. I ended up buying an OEM starter anyway, which does seem all around more reliable, and keep this one as my backup now.
    My biggest recommendation with this product would just be do not use the included hardware, or if you do make sure you don’t use it for very long and replace it when you can. On my last outing with this starter installed, we hit some decent wake, but nothing too crazy, were out all day on the water and then came back in. I went to go put the boat back on the trailer and it wouldn’t start back up at the dock. Wierd since we had been out all day with no issues. Luckily I was already at the ramp and was able to just pull the boat onto my trailer with a rope. The next day I pop open the engine bay and low and behold the starter is sitting in the bilge still wired up and everything! At first glance I thought maybe the bolt holding it in place had just backed out due to vibration, but upon closer inspection I found that the bolt had actually snapped off leaving part of it in my engine block! I’m a mechanic so no big deal, but what a pain in the you know what to get the broken piece out of the bottom side of the engine block by having to reach under and drill it out upside down. Moral of the story, unless you have hours to waste on a job like that, get some different hardware than what they send you. Maybe you can use the included bolts as a paper weight or just see how far you can throw them into the water!
