I usually pull out the filter, and it has collapsed and/or twisted. This was the first time I used the Purolator brand, and it came out looking the same way it went in.

I can’t stress this enough, fully seat the filter into it’s chamber. The plastic plug with the Small “O” ring on the bottom of the filter must be fully seated in it’s corresponding hole. Otherwise when you reinstall the filter compartment cap, you will distort and crush the filter element rendering it operationally useless.

I ordered this Purolator Boss filter for my ‘08 HHR.
It is a cylindrical paper filter that fits inside a canister, as opposed to the spin-on metal type where the paper filament inside is protected. Shipping was prompt. However, I have an issue with the use of a paper bag to ship this in!! It’s a miracle the filter itself wasn’t crushed, as the thin cardboard it is packaged in, was beat up bad. So Amazon folks, listen up: don’t ship things like this in plastic or paper bags – use a BOX. (I laugh every time I see the TV commercial where Amazon workers are being trained to repair robots, etc. Really?).

I’ve been using these filters for years and they are great. I have an 08 burb with AFM that has 280k miles on it, I had a 00 Alero that had 285k, my old caddy STS retired at 310k (trans went out again, engine still ran great). I tried a Mobil1 filter, because that was what I could get at the time, on my 14 Yukon Denali and it ran about 15 psi less oil pressure with it. Took it off and put a Purolator on it and no more oil pressure issues.

I’ll first start out, I do not like the style of filter that GM has you use. They should be cheaper as they use less, but aren’t.
However, getting to the main product. These filters are premium, work well, and the oil came out looking allot cleaner when I used this verse every other brand I have used.
I would get this again.
I normally get the Bosch Distance Plus filters, which are also excellent, but this are a cut above even that one.
This was used in a 2007 Saturn Ion. I do changes every 6 months or 7,000 to 8,000 miles on full synthetic oil.
