Easy fit and good replacement for OEM

When I bought my 2010 Fusion last year, I swapped out the cabin air filter immediately. Can’t stand having dirty air being blown in my face all the time. Put this in easily and it works great. My seasonal allergies don’t bother me as much in the car now, and the price is better than the OEM.

I replace the cabin air filter on my 2012 Ford Fusion SE V6 annually. I’ve purchased this filter the past two years, after previously using a Fram filter. Both times I’ve purchased this filter, I’ve found that the filter does not entirely fit in the filter slot – part of it, maybe 1/2 inch, sticks out – which means I’ve had to really jam the filter door in place to get it closed. When I’ve removed the filter to change it out, the filter material is bent and misshapen on the end where I’ve had to shove the cabin filter door shut. I’ve double-checked online, including on Purolator’s website, that this was the correct filter, and they say it is. However, if you have a Gen 2 Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan, I’d recommend purchasing the Fram air filter as it is a perfect fit.

After 3 years and 40,000 miles I had checked all over for a replacement cabin air filter. None of the local autoparts stores had them. My local Ford Dealer didn’t know if it had one. Amazon had it, it’s qualifies for Prime shipping, and was pretty easy to install. The old one was black as night and the airflow is much much stronger now.

Installation was straightforward once I figured out that the filter is located behind the glove box. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze, but with a little patience, it’s not too difficult to replace. The filter itself was in perfect condition despite the shipping box being slightly dented—something to be aware of if your package gets jostled around during delivery. Amazon might want to consider using a sturdier box for shipping auto parts like this, but the filter was undamaged, so no complaints there.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with this purchase. It’s a high-quality filter at a great price, and it fits perfectly in my 2012 Ford Fusion. Highly recommended!

Purolator C36099 BreatheEASY Cabin Air Filter
The Purolator cabin air filter was about ½ the price listed on the Ford Website; also it was not available at the local auto parts store. I did not install it yet, but it does not appear to be that difficult, once I was able to locate where the filter is to be installed. Have to look behind the glove box to access the panel to the air conditioning system to change the filter.
The shipping box was slightly crushed, but the filter was not damaged. This could be an issue if the US Postal personnel are not careful and place heavy boxes on the shipping box. Amazon should look into using a more crush resistant box when shipping these type items, if they are going to sell autoparts.
