I had tried to replace the rubber spacers with metal ones but they would not fit. Ordered this and it came the next day so I could finish the job and put my door back together. Installed this with no problems as it bolted in perfectly. Adjusted the top latch tension by unlocking the top latch pulley lower end at the middle latch operating mechanism(plastic latching tab) and moving the cable end up or down to adjust it. Relocked the tab and both top and lower latches worked as they should. Don’t know the long term reliability of this item but it looks like it is made substantially out of metal and other quality materials. Found it cheaper on another website but the next day shipping outweighed the cost savings. Will order the other side (rear passenger side)mechanism soon to replace it also. So far, very satisfied with this product purchase.

One of the latches is defective. I have replaced the passenger side already and understand how they are intended work. The one I received for the driver side is defective. The to latch on the top will not release and is locked in place after install. I tried contacting the seller for advice or help and after a week I have not received a reply. Amazon only offers a return replacement and to get this off in its non working state, will likely be destructive to the product. If I could leave zero stars I would.

Easy to install and has held up for over a year now! Plastic piece that comes from the factory is replaced with a metal piece in this product. Will recommend this to any car owner.

I first tried just replacing the rubber/plastic grommets that hold tension on cables on my original assembly with the aluminum ones but there was something else the matter with the actual mechanisms that latch on top and bottom so I ordered this assembly and installed it in about 25-30 minutes and works great I had to increase tension on the tensioner but that was it. Highly recommend doing this it’s much quicker than replacing just the rubber grommets and trying to put the aluminum ones on and you have an all new assembly.

I tried replacing the cam pieces originally and you have to drill into them in order to get them to fit in the first place. Worked for about 2 minutes and after all that work, the door failed to open again. I should’ve just bought this instead. Perfect fit, worked perfectly and no need to adjust. Would’ve saved me a couple of hours and a headache had I used this in the first place. Well worth the money when you lose access to one of your doors.
The only thing I wish they would do, is include fresh screws for the door, bc you have to be careful or you’ll strip them. They strip easy even with the correct star bit. Do not use a drill. Use a hand tool to unfasten them.

I was skeptical of using these components for my 2006 Ford PU but I was in a bind. I’m glad to say they fit fine and worked just fine and my rear doors function well with these installed. They do have synthetic connections that I was planning to replace with aluminum but if they last 15 years like the factory set I’ll be fine.
