This is a very nice assembly and was super easy to install. I also replaced the sway bar link at the same time.

First time I bought these was for a beater Mazda Protege that just needed to get down the road. I remembered how easy they were to install so decided they were the right choice to my 150k T&C that had bad bump stops and bushings. Installation was pretty simple. Hardest and slowest part of the process was the sway bar link as others have commented. Make sure you have a full line of metric wrenches on hand! Getting the three bolts to line up in the strut towers was tricky and definitely required an assistant. I was able to get close enough on the alignment where there was no detectable change in handling. Will have to watch tire wear closely but for now I think I nailed it. Used a scribe on the knuckle and a beam level to check camber.
Overall ride improved dramatically over the worn out probably original struts. Suspension is still a little softer than I would like, but it is a mini-van after all. I should note too, that my main reason for replacing these was to get rid of an annoying clunk I get at low speeds on bumpy roads. I thought for sure it was the upper bearings in the strut assembly but it was not. Sway bar bushings turned out to be the source.

These are the exact fit replacement for our 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan. After replacement, OEM lasted 215K miles, the ride quality is near factory original. Even though the originals didn’t seem to be wore out (no bouncy front end), the creak from them seemed to indicate that the bearing plate was wore out, but they were long overdue for replacement.
After watching several videos on how easy these are to replace, I started to replace them myself. Perhaps if you don’t live in the rust belt, these would be easy. I found that the front stabilizer link nuts were almost impossible to remove due to corrosion (plan on replacing the end links if you’re replacing the factory struts). There’s a pretty good video by 1aauto that shows the removal and they also note using a sawzall to remove the end links (good luck getting a good angle to cut the bottom bolt off without a lift or hoist) if you live in the rust belt.
INTELLECTUAL GENIUS –
Kudos- to Amazon and their sellers. Monroe struts are considered the premium standard for automotive chassis repair (my opinion, and many others too). These simply are great parts and WELL BELOW (nearly 50%) local auto stores prices. They were complete ready to install and came with most new hardware, leaving only a few bolts that had to be re-used. You can find cheaper parts but the ones listed with this review- are amongst the industries best and coming through an Amazon seller, just a great value. Also, if you are a DIY type of person, this is a realistic project that can be completed by someone with average mechanical skill in a reasonable amount of time. I am highly mechanical (also a perfection nut on stuff like this), and spent about 3 hours doing both sides and a couple other chassis components. Just remember the vehicle should be re-aligned immediately following installation.

Installed Monroe Quick-Struts 171572R and L on 2006 Chrysler T&C minivan. The install was fairly easy and I had my work checked out during the re-alignment – All good. I noticed more body roll, but still a good ride for the first two months. The ride became increasingly softer, allowing more body roll, and also became lower. The vehicle now scrapes at every parking curb and going in and out of driveways – never happened before. Cornering has become substandard. Take note of the smaller diameter of the coil spring as compared with the original – it’s noticeable just by looking at it. It becomes mushy very fast. This product should NOT be used for the 2006 Chrysler T&C minivan. It’s been a very fast decline in performance and now at almost 6 months of use, I am ready to find an OEM replacement that works like the originals. Original struts lasted 9 years. Seemed like a good idea to install the Quick Strut, but it hasn’t performed well after the first 60 days. I’ve done lots of car work – Be safe and FIND A BETTER PRODUCT.

replaced out originals on my 2002 dodge mini van with 150.000 mi. van always had a nice soft ride with good handling. I did not want a drastic ride comfort change. my mechanic suggested to go with Monroes quick struts instead of replacing just the struts. im glad I went with the quick struts. I had no drastic change in ride. but my handling improved dramaticaly.
No body rolls in the corners , its nice and firm. great highway ride,nice and smooth.
got the quick struts 171572r and1715721l from amazon, for $100.00 a peice. advanced auto part wanted $204.00 a peice. what a great price from amazon. I did not even know amazon sold car and truck parts. my mechanic had no problem with installation. I did order ak71 Monroes strut accessory kit which my mechanic did use. last year I did replace my rear shocks with original oem from the dealer. Now the van has that great new car ride!!!!

Some concerns that I had before receiving and installing these units, Monroe 171572L and 171572R:
– will the spring rate match the original OEM? I didn’t want something weaker than what I removed.
– will assembled quality match/exceed original OEM?
YES, YES.
The ride quality was restored to at better than I can ever remember. The fit-up was as good or better than the original factory OEM units. No more strange noises – very quiet suspension now.
The installation details:
– I used spray paint to scribe/mark the location of the original unit. This was so that I could install the new units as close as possible to try to match the camber alignment. This definitely helped – I will still go and get the alignment checked/adjusted, but I think I came really close, if not nailed it.
– I performed this work ( both strut assemblies) together with replacement of L/R sway bar links, L/R axle CV joints, and both sway bar bushings.
