I am seriously on the fence with this product. And I am not sure how to rate it, so I sort of went right down the middle with what I would call 2 1/2 stars (rounded up to three. Here is my main issue with this product.
This claims to be a clay bar application pad, but what is on the pad does not appear to be clay like you would use on your car’s paint and other surfaces. First of all, clay bars that I have used are malleable and form like play doe in your hand . This synthetic clay is hard and in a waffle like texture. I do not see how this will work with a hard surface. Second the clay bar is sticky and you need a soapy like lubricant to make the clay glide along the surface. This does not glide on the surface unless you use straight soap, like from a foam cannon. This arrived in a cardboard box if this was clay it would be stuck to the box and everything in it. Third and probably most importantly if this is picking up the impurities and debris from your paint what is happening to it afterwords. With a clay bar you simply kneed it into a different shape and get a clean area and continue using it. I can usually clay bar a whole car with half a clay bar and then throw it away. With this I guess you clean it somehow and keep using it indefinitely. Nope, not a fan.
What I did like is the applicator pad with the soft foam material and the hex shaped handle. Also included is a soft wax/polishing applicator pad which I can definitely use to apply wax after using the clay bar. I will have to look for more applicator pads, because I do like this handle.
Bottom line.. No instructions on how to really use this synthetic clay pad or what to use as a lubricant. Wax/polish applicator pad is great, but need more pads. Love the shape and feel of the handle and the Velcro works well. You can see now why I am on the fence with this one…

I have been using clay to clean my cars for decades, and the difference between a washed car and a washed car that has been clay blocked is night and day. I normally use clay blocks and you knead and fold the clay so you aren’t rubbing dirt into the finish. If you had a number of pads, this would work for an entire car. But I was leery of using the one pad supplied over an entire car. I have a 30+ year old Ranger that is the definition of a beater. It has been outside for most of its life, the green/blue paint is faded and worn, so I figured this couldn’t hurt. I washed and pressure washed the truck, and used this on the hood. The handle makes it easy to apply pressure and saved my arthritic hands from cramping. It actually brought the paint back and made it smooth as glass, noticeably smoother than just washing it. After I finished, I hit it with a ceramic spray and I look forward to seeing what happens during this weekend’s predicted rains.

I have a Maxshine random orbit polisher for small areas, so I’m familiar with the quality and value of this brand. This small clay pad is useful in removing embedded contaminants in the paint. Following a thorough clean a clay pad will pull the exposed contaminants in the paint. once removed a polisher can safely and more effectively remove scratches and swirls without rubbing those micro rocks and iron and dirt particles back into the paint. An essential step in detailing a vehicle. Would highly recommend.

Wanted to try this out. I’ve seen a similar product from Meguair’s and Griot’s Garage but they are much more expensive. After opening the box I found a foam based handle that was firm but some flex to it. There was a pad that could be used for applying polish (with soft surface) and a second pad designed to work as an artificial clay bar (which had a grey black foam appearance with some small bumps on it.. Both attached to the red handle using hook and loop system. The instructions indicated that the parts included in the box and what they could do. Plus some general instructions for use of the “clay bar” pad. But no information about how long it was expected to last before the clay bar pad needs replacement. (1 vehicle?, 2 vehicles? , 1/2 vehicle?) I used to clay bar on my daughters vehicle on the trunk of her car that had residue from parkin g under trees this spring. The clay bar worked well to remove the the trunk and rear quarter panels by wetting the pad in water and started working the surface with a little bit of pressure with linear strokes and then dipping back in water to keep the pad and vehicle wet. In about 20 minutes the paint looked great. So it worked well and was easy to clean the residue off. Just no idea of how often to you need get replacement pads and where to get them.

I have been using traditional clay bars for years and they work fine once you know what you’re doing but doing large panels like the hood and door panels can get tedious and the small area covered by your fingers can lead to missed areas or uneven application. This applicator makes shorter work of this large panels and makes for a much more even cleaning of those large flat areas.
I am fan of anything that can make detailing quicker and more consistent.

This item shipped and arrived fast. I get better grip with the hex head block handle design in this kit than the round style. Handle with hook and loop attachment is well made. You get 1 synthetic clay block disk and 1 applicator / polishing disk in this kit that are easily interchangeable by the hook and loop backs. All of the materials used fell and appear well made. The clay disk is holding up good so far getting my motorcycle prepped for summer. The clay glides just as good as other brands I have used and it is lifting the impurities from the paint. My paint feels very slick and I have not waxed it yet. These kits are very easy to use. There were no instructions inside of my package but I have used these before. There are plenty of videos out there showing the best way to use these synthetic clay kits. Overall this is a nice kit that is made as good as the others in my opinion and the cost was fair. I rated this kit 5 stars.
