I liked this charger when it stays attached to my air vents. Because of its design, the charger will not stay mounted on the vent. It doesn’t matter if I’m on the street or freeway. Because the vents move up and down, the weight of the charger and phone is too much to keep the charger on the vent. The design does not allow me to swap out the end that attaches to a vent with a different part from an old charger. It does charge and it does look nice. I’ll have to use it in my backseat whenever I have someone in the back.

I have a 2013 Prius V and when this is plugged into the USB adapter, my phone gives an error saying that the power source is too weak to charge – just a heads up

I had a magnetic phone mount in my car before but it didn’t double as a charger, so I ordered this one. I love that now I can charge my phone without having to plug it in when I drive. I simply have to drop it on the magnetic mount like I always do and it charges for me.
I live on a bumpy, gravel driveway, so of course I had to put this mount through the shake test. I don’t want my heavy phone plopping off onto the floor while I’m trying to get somewhere. In my test, I could shake this mount violently and my iPhone stayed stuck to it.
But will the mount stay stuck to the car? My last magnetic car mount clung to the air vent with a thin metal rod that extended into it and snugly tightened onto it from the back. There was no shaking it. It was stable.
The clip on this mount is a different story. It relies on pressure from above and below to stay in place. When I clip it on, I can easily notice the weight of the charger pulling the entire apparatus downward. I can take my phone on and off with ease, but I live in fear that the whole charger will pop out on a particularly bumpy stretch of road. So, long story short, I’m not impressed by the clip. My old one had a solid, metal clip. This one feels like it might not stay in place.
Maybe it’s just in my car, but it doesn’t seem like this charger has a high degree of rotation motion to face the phone in the direction you prefer.
Lastly, many newer iPhones support 15w wireless charging, so it would be nice to see that in the car. This mount still charges through the older 7w technology.
