I purchased this to be on the safe side when installing a Garmin backup camera in my travel trailer. I was skeptical as to whether the signal from the transmitter, mounted in a cabinet at the rear of our trailer and wired into a 12 volt circuit, would consistently reach the Garmin GPS on the dash of our tow vehicle since the trailer itself is 29 feet long plus a good portion of the length of the F150 that is our tow vehicle. I needn’t have worried…the signal is fine and in fact is strong enough that the GPS starts picking it up at least a couple of additional car-lengths away from the trailer. In retrospect, I wouldn’t order this in advance of installation but only if the camera doesn’t seem to transmit well to the GPS unit after trying it — the distance estimates from Garmin seem conservative and I think the chances are good that the cord will not be needed.

We purchased a Garmin RV760LMT and opted for the extra $50 to get the backup camera and wireless transmitter with it. Since our 5th wheel is 36′ long, I didn’t want to chance that the transmitter would have interference or drop out of range on a tight turn, so with this extension, I could mount the camera transmitter in the front compartment of the camper, just behind the truck’s tailgate. This was fairly easy to feed along the frame and rigid hydraulic lines under the camper, securing with cable ties as I went along. Where possible, I tucked it into the bottom aluminum skin that wraps under the sides of the camper. The camera’s reception is uninterrupted, even on sharp turns backing into a site or driveway. The camera’s clarity is a little lacking, but for $50, it’s acceptable. I think this cable was a good decision.

So, does it serve it’s purpose? Does it say what it says it does? Is it easy to install? Absolutely on all three counts, Yes! But, here is why I only gave this product three stars.
If you choose to utilize the temporary mount, using the license plate holes, which means offsetting the camera to either the right or left, setting up the guidelines might be a little tricky. They can only extend to the edges so far. On my car, my camera is mounted to the passenger side bolt. Following the Garmin videos on set up, I am limited to how far I can adjust the driver’s side parking edge. Also, being at the top of the license plate of my vehicle (Hyundai Genesis Sedan), you really need to point the camera downward to get the bumper to the red line area so you know how much distance you really have. Sure, you can compensate. However, I would like to see my bumper in reference to the object I am backing up against. The final reason for three stars, when you switch cables to utlize the bluetooth adaptor that comes with the camera, you lose traffic updates : (. This is a huge negative for me… thus, I have to switch power cables depending on where I am driving to and from.
A few negatives… yes. Enough to for me to say not to purchase this for its purpose… no. Keep your Garmin, get this if you do not already have a back up system and enjoy the convenience for the price and reliability that Garmin and its team provide.

Good product. Needed about 1-2 feet extension to mount the Garmin backup camera and transmitter in the correct positions. This cable was more than enough. Wish it had come in shorter option also but this worked well with secure connections. This is my second set because I had used similar system in another car.
