Forget about passing the smog check, this sensor will stop your car from working.
It is supposed to be compatible to Denso 234-9001 air fuel ratio senor, it’s not
Before this, I installed a Denso 234-2062 O2 sensor which was recommended in Denso web site, which I found later that are not replacement of 234-9001.
The O2 sensor didn’t make the the truck(2000 Tacoma 2.4l) smog check test ready but at least it didn’t interfere the function of the truck.
This sensor, Germban made my truck engine started knocking in less than a mile of driving.
I had to stop on the street and pulled to the nearest shop I knew and left it there over night.
The price difference of this and Denso(OEM) is about $50, but will cost you about $400 more at the shop.

The product looked to be of good quality. Aside from large hex nut being loose (perhaps to accommodate other configurations) it looked fine and assembled well enough. After installed, the 2002 4Runner had pulsing / hesitation in acceleration. This may be fine for grandma but it was not like the Denso product the I replaced it with. I was hoping to save $70 but in the end I had to install two parts learning a lesson here.

My husband is the mechanic. He shopped for a replacement Air Fuel / O2 sensor for his 2000 Toyota Tacoma 3.4L V6 automatic rear wheel drive California emissions daily driver when the factory original gave out at 162,000 miles with a P1135 and P1130 code. This one is the perfect fit cross-referenced from the Toyota part number…and it is 1/3 the $$$ cost from the local retail auto parts stores. It works exactly as if it were original equipment. Perfect fit in every respect, physically and electronically. Now for the rest of the story….this item comes in generic packaging with the imprinted part number obscured by a piece of aluminum tape. There are no additional supporting parts in the box, no replacement gasket, no replacement self-locking nuts, no little tube of anti-seize compound to aid the reassembly….nothing. So plan to spend a little extra time at the local Toyota dealer to buy those things and all will be fine. OBTW, use PLENTY of penetrating oil to ensure a safe removal of the original nuts otherwise you WILL damage the threads trying to remove the sensor.

This worked great on my 2002 Toyota Tacoma 3.4L V6 with CAL emissions. I had the P0171 code (system too lean bank 1) and this sensor corrected it. I have driven almost 80 miles and all good so far. I ordered a different one (same part number) that did not mention the CAL emissions and it did not work. Truck is running really well now!

2001 tacoma 3.4 auto would not work properly tried 2 times and made my throttle pulsate in drive and park.

2000 4Runner SR5, took about 20 minutes to install once I realized to come at it from the top by removing the gear shift. He h engine light has stayed off and gas mileage seems a bit better. Mechanic was quoting me $380 to do it.
