WOW! It seems the early 2000’s Jeep Liberty’s have a problem with the rear window regulators, and my 2002 model is no exception. I had both replaced once (at a cost of $250 each), and when they broke again a year later, I just taped them up and left them there. Not long ago I stumbled on to a YouTube video on how to replace this yourself. So I came here and found this. For $70 it was worth a try.
WHAM! I had the new motor and regulator installed in less than an hour. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver and a socket wrench. Everything else is included, although there are no instructions included in this package. Look on YouTube for a couple awesome videos. It’s just a matter of knowing how to detach the old one, then securing the new unit in place.
I was nervous that I was going to disassemble my door and somehow get stuck not being able to get it all back together again. But really, it couldn’t have been easier. Awesome purchase!

this fit my 2006 liberty with a production date of 3/2006.
If your window suddenly just drops and won’t go back up, but you can hear the motor making noise, this is what you need.
I guess there is a switch in mechanism style part way through this year. Best to pull out your old one and match it with the picture. All you need is a Phillips head and a 10mm. Maybe a large flat bladed screwdriver to pop off the door panel.
One Phillips in the arm rest finger pull and one behind the handle. The arm rest stays attached to the door panel. Pop away from the sides and bottom of the panel and lift straight up. Detatch the handle rod at the back side of the handle. Might need a pair of pliers for the clip.
3 Phillips for the speaker and a wire plug. Pull off the plastic barrier.
Unclip the bottom of the window from the white plastic mechanism trolley. It is a small ball tab that is held in place with a u clip. Use a screw driver to pry/slide the clip out. The ball tab mount on the bottom of the window is a bit flexible so when reinstalling you might have to bend a little to line the ball up with the new clip and trolley.
Take out the 6 10mm bolts and pull the motor screw and window guide out.

It would have been easy to install, but the bracket that was attached to the window was bent. However, that’s not a problem with these components, but an issue caused when the old part failed. When I finally found the bent bracket, and straightened it, the new part fit and worked perfectly! She loves it!

As others have mentioned, get familiar with installation by watching a couple of YouTube videos. My installation went well..as in…I didn’t break anything! Pay attention to the “clip and ball” segment of the installation. The motor is noisier than OEM, but who cares…This was a good purchase!

I suggest watching a Youtube video or two before you install this yourself. It would also be beneficial if you have hands the size of a 6 year old child. This is the second one that I’ve replaced on this vehicle and even with the opposite of small hands, installation was easy and straight forward.
A couple of installation notes:
Door Panel clips are always painful, you may not want to do this on a Sunday afternoon, when the dealer is closed, so you can run down and buy a couple if you break them. Note:I didn’t break any and I did do this on a Sunday. So even I didn’t follow my advice.
A large glass suction cup makes this much easier, you can pin the glass in place by clamping the cup just above the lower window frame on the outside of the door while you work. You can tape the glass to the top of the door, but all of the maneuvering of the slide mechanism tends to make the window fall…on top of your large hands.

I ordered the Dorman Window regulator because the OEM replacement for my GF’s 2006 Jeep Liberty was very expensive, especially given that they haven’t done anything to address the reason the regulators break in the first place. The Dorman is a direct replacement and installs easily. From end to end the workmanship is better than I would have thought in its price range. The only thing I see is it is a little slower than the OEM, but better than not working at all. I have to spray some silicone spray in the channels to see how this helps.
I would definitely purchase another Dorman product. The regurlator has been working just fine since the install.

Worked great on my 2004 Jeep Liberty Sport 4×4 V6. When my passenger back window fell into the door panel, I knew that the motor went out. After some research, I realized that this is a common problem with this car. I have never done this replacement before so I Youtubed some video to see the procedure. It seemed easy enough. The Dodge/Jeep dealership quoted me a little over $500 for the job, so I was will to try to save some $. I bought this product, and Amazon sent it over in two days because I am a PRIME MEMBER. The videos were very detailed and informative, so as a first timer the job only took about 1 hour and 15 minutes total. And I saved some serious moo-la! And also gained a little pride and satisfaction of doing it myself! The motor works great and is every bit as strong as the original (the reaction time seems the same to me, anyways).

I got it used so price was way cheaper. It is a dorman product so cheaply made. Metal seems thinner than the last one I bought that was branded autosaver88 and it was much thicker metal.

First time replacing the passenger rear window regulator. Had to replace the drivers side regulator twice in 5 years. The vehicle was outside; the driver’s side had hot California sun beating on it all day, nearly every day. The plastic piece the window sits in cracked both times. This OEM is good value for it’s purpose. For my Jeep, the rear windows rarely get used, therefore I can’t say how this part will hold up under daily use. I hope it last more than 5 years 😏 It’s now in a garage.
Jeep should have made thd factory part better quality and a better design. These are not the easiest things to install.
