Excellent price, fast shipping and works as advertised. For a heads up, you do have to remove the front drive shaft in order to do the replacement. Can be done in less than an hour.

At $350 less than the GM replacement part price I simply had to try this Dorman replacement transfer case shift motor for a 2001 GMC AWD Safari van. I installed it in less than 1/2 hour. It has been in service for over a month and appears to operate the same as the original. Going through slick muddy and grassy hillsides the awd works absolutely perfect so far. Time will tell how long this sensibly priced replacement transfer case encoder motor will perform. I have no information or reason to believe it will not last as long as the original GM part and even if it only lasts a couple years I will still be way ahead over the GM O.E. price!

Ignore the negative reviews. Those are based entirely on unrealistic expectations. AWD on the Astro van is the weakest link. Even OEM encoder motors don’t last long and need to be replaced periodically. Last Dorman motor I installed lasted two years, which I was very happy about. This one has been working very well for the last few months. One nice extra feature this one came with was the plastic plug that kept the shaft in the correct position. This makes the installation easy as there is no way to make a mistake. And the price is great. I normally buy parts on Rockauto, but this time it was actually cheaper on Amazon once I factored in the shipping and currency ecxhtange.

The AWD on my 2000 gmc safari has not been working for years. Finally decided to fix it ahead of thrbuocomib winter. Did some diagnostics which pointed to this part. Next day delivery and very good price. Installed it and now my van is like new. Highly recommended

This was installed on my 99 Astrovan AWD. On initial install, It seems to lock up a little early, causing some jitter in the front end in tight turns. It is appearing to drop off a little, which is good. The jitter has lessened as time has went on. Not sure in the computer had to adjust to the new install?

Dorman 600-906 Transfer Case Motor is a perfect fit. It bolted right up inplace of the original. Initially I did not see it behind the skid plate. Once the driveshaft was removed id only took 3 bolts and the electrical connector to do the swap. Price was about half of what the local guys wanted for a replacement..

PRO: My AWD woks again on my 2000 Astro Van
The AWD error light went out on my dash, it was annoying
CON: AWD is on all the time. Makes the van ‘crab’ when turning sharply when parking, etc. Changed ‘blue fluid’ but that didn’t help.

I have been living with my long time problem of being stuck in all-wheel-drive for a several years. I tried the GM fix of changing the tranfer case fluid (at least 6 times). I finally purchased and installed this transfer case motor. The Bravada drives like it did when it was new (I purchased the vehicle new so I am sure of this). My long time problem is solved.
