Bought for my Mazda CX-7, it seems to be better than the cheap Quaker State filter I got from Canadian Tire. Aswell it fit in my car with no problems, gaskets fit fine. So far it’s done what it’s suppose to do and has given me no problems

Fits great on my 2007 Mazda 3s 2.3l. There are reviews that state this filter design is different than OEM and will not seal. Well the design is indeed different, but it still seals. It does this by the orings on both ends of the filter which seals it to the standpipe on the cap and the housing inlet. This ensures the oil goes through the filter and then through the standpipe.

I used this on a Mazda 5 2.3 engine. It feels like a well built engine oil filter except that the center hole is a tad small making the center rib of the oil cap hard to push in. This will probably be my last use of a Wix engine oil filter for my Mazda 5. I’m going back to K&N.

I put it in clean. 5,000 miles later, I take it out and it’s is black, so apparently it is filtering something.
Seriously, i spent a couple of hours researching automotive filters. The best site I found was one by a mechanical engineer. HE bought about a dozen brands of the same filter (a PER 1, one of the most common filters), then cut them apart to analyze the contents.
His conclusion, backed up by data, was that Wix filters (as well as the NAPA Gold series, which appear to be identical) were the best designed and made. They had the most filter area, the strongest filter material, and the thickest parts and seals.
Until someone does a better analysis, I’ll stick with Wix.

So I got 2 of these because I heard WIX was a good brand. My filters did not have any type of gasket or felt seal around the ends, like all other filters I’ve used on my vehicle. Not sure if they should, but it would make me feel better if they did have something. We will see how they look when I pull them back out.
