This was great for car washing. It works well and was a good value for the money. Good quality.

I received this item free as an Amazon Vine reviewer and this is my honest review. I only review items I will actually use, and use I do, prior to writing a review.
I only handwash my car and do it weekly. This “Ultra Soft Japanese Foam, Scratch Free” car was sponge caught my attention so I though I would give it a try. Currently I use a chenille microfiber style sponge (pictured). This foam sponge is about the same size with an eggcrate surface. The sponge has an hourglass shape that is pleasing and easy to hold (pictured).
As for the use, I am a bit on the fence. This sponge is very light and does not hold nearly as much water as the microfiber sponge (pictured). For general washing I use the hoseless one bucket method. I use a soap designed for this type of wash and mist the car with water and this soap prior to using a saturated sponge to wash each panel. For this method I like a sponge that holds a lot of water. This Japanese foam sponge simply does not hold that much water.
However, I did find a use for this sponge in my washing routine. I like to detail the door jams, rear hatch opening and engine bay when I wash the car. And for those areas I don’t need a sopping wet sponge that could drip water into the interior or all down the engine area. This Japanese foam sponge works great for those areas and the end result is a clean and shiny car (pictured).
As I do at the end of all my reviews, I ask myself if I would actually purchase this item. Yes, I would buy this sponge for the indicated purpose of detailed areas that I do not need overly wet. But I would not use this to wash my entire car in the hoseless bucket only method I use.

This sponge works really well. Both my husband and I have used it to clean our cars at one time or another and we are really impressed with it. It is very soft on the paint of our vehicles and holds sudds and water well. It isn’t supper durable and you can’t do a lot of hard scrubbing with it but if you’re cleaning right you normally won’t have too.

Now that I’ve gotten into detailing, and understand the damage a car wash can do to your paint, I try to avoid contact washes unless absolutely necessary. I haven’t used a sponge on my car in several years as a result.
I had seen the hype around Esoteric’s japanese foam sponge, but honestly I was skeptical. Boy was I wrong!
This sponge is softer than any other I’ve ever felt. It soaps up soapy water, leaving plenty of lubrication on the paint during a contact wash. A quick squeeze drains it almost completely dry.
I checked my paint after my first few washes with an inspection light, and this thing really works! It didn’t leave behind any swirls or scratches, leaving my paint just as perfect as before.
I’m sold for life, this is my new favorite sponge! When this one wears out, I’ll be getting a replacement, and taking Esoteric’s suggestion to cut this one in half and use it for wheel cleaning.

So I love detailing my car and I don’t do it a nonstop, I just do it ever other weekend or once a month. I did love this sponge, it worked amazingly and I loved how it didn’t store a ton of water inside it. Now that aside, it was ease to use, had great softness too it and it’s cleaning power was seen… but… it breaks down way too easily… they product itself the way it molded and made it great but the quality point needs to be improved. As far as I can see it the value for the money is not worth it.

This car washing sponge is unbelievably soft and with its waffle shape face, it should be very safe for paint because dirt and grime can be held in the recesses rather than pushed into a car’s finish. It comes from Japan and is so soft that it is unlike anything I have ever held in the past. I like it so much I am buying two more.

Initial Unboxing:
The product comes in plastic packaging from Japan. This includes the wash sponge.
Using the Product:
I would rinse it off with water or wash it with soap before using it. Make sure you have two buckets, one for rinsing and the other for washing. I like to foam the car, rinse it off, then foam it again before washing. Dip the wash sponge in the wash sponge and work from top to bottom, making sure to not drop it on the ground. Once you finish one panel, dip it in the rinse bucket to remove any dirt picked up. Dip it back into the wash bucket and repeat.
This is significantly softer than any other sponges I have tried. It is not a typical cheap sponge that will scratch your paint, this one is not only softer but has these grooves that trap dirt easier. While I don’t know whether this will be just as good or even better than a microfiber towel is to anyone’s judgment, I’d say it is comparable to them. A few things bring it down a little. First, it is a little pricey which means you gotta dedicate yourself to using this product for a long time. Speaking a long time ago, I left this in my wash bucket by accident for a few days. When I went to wash it off, I saw small pieces of it falling apart. Of course, this is my mistake, but sponges in general do not last as long as microfiber towels which can last for years. Because of their price, they aren’t as valuable to buy in bulk. They also take up much more space than wash mitt, for example.
Pro Highlights:
– Soft on the paint
– Traps dirt effectively
– Versatile to use on regular washes or rinseless washes
Con Highlights:
– Very pricey
– Not as durable as microfiber wash mitts
– Kind of too large to store it in compact areas
General Overview:
While I do say this is a very solid wash sponge in replacement for a microfiber wash mitt, it may not have as much life in it as microfiber wash mitts.
